ARRIVAL TIME: Please plan to arrive by 8:30 am on Friday.

LOCATION: S.HI.P. 2015 is taking place at Lake Doniphan Retreat Center in Excelsior Springs, MO – about 45 minutes north of Kansas City. Please plan accordingly to arrive by 8:30 am on Friday of each segment. They are doing construction in Excelsior Springs  Please plan enough time to follow the detour around the construction.  Cell phone coverage and GPS are very spotty around there.  Please print out or write out the directions before you leave your house.

Click HERE for directions to Lake Doniphan Retreat Center. When you are driving down the gravel road to the retreat center, there will be a gate on your right that says Lake Doniphan, but it will most likely be closed.  Pass by that first gate and keep going. When you get to the second entrance on your right, it will be open.  Turn right into the retreat center and drive forward until you get to the lake, then follow the little road to the right that goes right alongside the lake.  When you get up to the buildings, follow the signs to the Main Lodge, which is in the middle of the property.  Click HERE to view the Lake Doniphan facilities map.

SCHEDULE:  We will be together from 8:30 am on Friday through 5 pm on Sunday. Attendance at the full workshop is required of all participants.

MEALS:  Catered meals, provided by Lake Doniphan Retreat Center, will include lunch on Friday through lunch on Sunday. Please eat breakfast before you arrive on Friday. Please fill out the on-line Food Preferences form above if you have not already done so.

SNACKS:  There will be some snacks provided but if you have specific snack needs, please bring whatever you want.

BEVERAGES: There will be coffee, tea and water at all catered meals and hot tea available throughout the workshop. Please bring a water bottle with a lid to have with you throughout the workshop and a travel mug with a lid if you like to have hot tea during the workshop.

Breathwork Blankets: Please note that the group room that we are using has linoleum floors. Please make sure to bring adequate padding to lie down on for the breathwork journey so that you can be comfortable.

What to Bring:

Your open heart and mind

–An object for the altar that represents the theme of the segment you are attending.

SHIP Manual – Whenever you begin S.H.I.P. you will receive a S.H.I.P. Manual. Please bring it back when you attend subsequent segments so that you can keep adding pages (and help protect the environment).

–Breathwork Blankets: you will need a thick mat or comforter to lie down on the hard floor for breathwork, an extra blanket to cover up with and a pillow for your head.

Eye covering, if you have one

Yoga mat

Drums, noise-makers and rattles, if you have them

Musical instruments for playing around the fire at night if you are so inclined


Comfy clothes that you can move in – dress in layers

Shoes or boots that you can tromp around in outdoors in the woods

Outdoor gear – Bug spray, sun screen, coats, hats, gloves, etc. We will be outside sometimes.


The retreat center provides bed sheets, pillow cases, blanket, towels, wash cloth and hand towel.  You do not need to bring those.
